There have been quite a few issues with various set screws (metal on metal) unscrewing themselves, because it is normal that there is some vibration on the boat.
If only there was a solution to this problem… oh wait – there is. It’s called Loctite. You don’t screw almost anything together on a car without it – why would you skip using it on a boat? I don’t know, but it seems the factory has never heard about it.
Here are some examples of set screws that came loose. I recommend using blue loctite on all of them proactively.
All the door handles. They literally unscrew themselves and you end up with the handle coming off in your hand:

The catch for the side door to the saloon. Once they unscrew themselves enough it just slides/drops down, so you can’t close the door anymore:

The toilet paper holder, it just falls to pieces. There’s two set screws on it. Nothing screams like quality boat building when the pieces hit the floor after you’ve taken a dump and tug on the paper:

Since we’re already talking about getting (un?)screwed by the yard… The teak high-low tables also unscrew themselves from the metal mechanism and fall off, especially the cockpit one that you can use as a sunpad. All the normal washers should be replaced with spring or lock washers (still originals in the picture):

I hope future boats come out the factory screwed together better and screw the owner less 😉
